Practice
Formulas for Spreadsheets
Create a spreadsheet with formulas to solve the equations for
you. 5 of each, Addition, subtraction, Multiplication
and Division.
Attach the file to the assignment in JupiterGrades when
finished.
Steps, please follow carefully;
Open Numbers
Create a new file
In column A list addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division as show below
In Columns B - F enter data - for example in the graphic
below, I entered; "5" in cell B2 and "3" in cell B3.
When entering the formula, type the = sign to get the
formula bar, for example, in the graphic below, I entered
the following in cell B4; =(this brings up the formula
bar) sum(B2+B3) and press the return or enter key or the
green check mark, your sum will appear in cell B4.
Continue the addition formulas across Columns B, C, D, E,
and F using your own data.
Then create 5 of each for subtraction, multiplication and
division.
Use + for addition, - for subtraction, * for
multiplication and / for division signs.
Please refer to the links to the help pages and user
guides at the bottom of this page to assist you.
Note - this is usually a one day in-class lesson.
However, I realize that this is a difficult concept so we
will spend the entire week on it.
There is also a video below to show you how to create and
enter formulas.
When this is graded, I will look not at the answers, but
at the formulas that are entered. For example, in the
graphic below the correct answer is (B2+B3) not the
number "8".
Create a section for addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.
Use easy numbers for your data
Enter the formulas for your operation
Press the = sign to show the formula bar
Save the file in your home folder with the name
"LastNamePracticeFormulas" - then Share with me.
