Photoshop Assignments

All original works as well as your recreations need to be placed into a Keynote presentation to be shared in class. All assignments are worth 25 points. The total assignment is worth is 100 points.

Assignment 1

Crop an image

Download a graphic from the Internet by right clicking on the graphic and selecting "Save Image As" > save it in your home drive.
Open Photoshop > File > Open, or open the photo by Right Clicking on the image file in your home drive > select Open With > Adobe Photoshop CC 2018
Choose Save As from the file menu.
Give it a name and save in your home drive.
Your file name will change to the new name. leaving the original untouched and still in your folder.
Unlock the layer if needed by double clicking the lock icon in the Layer tab
Select the Crop tool and outline the area that you want to keep
Click the check mark to crop or the cancel icon to cancel
Save the file
Insert both the original file as well as the cropped file into your Keynote presentation by going to Insert > Choose and then navigating to your files

Assignment 2

Colorize an Image

Download an Ansel Adams photo, save it in your home drive.
Open Photoshop > File > Open, or open the photo by Right Clicking on the image file in your home drive > select Open With > Adobe Photoshop Elements
Choose Save As from the file menu.
Give it a name and save in your home drive.
Your file name will change to the new name. leaving the original untouched and still in your folder.
Go to "Image -> Mode -> RGB Color" to change the preferences from Grayscale to RGB color.
Use one of the selection tools to select a portion to be colored.
Go to "Image -> Adjustments -> Hue Saturation", or press Command+U
Check the Colorize box and Preview box
Adjust colors to your preference.
Insert both the original file as well as the colorized file into your Keynote presentation by going to Insert > Choose and then navigating to your files

Assignment 3

Famous Painters

Filtered Art - twirl, craquelure, tile

Download a famous painting and save it to your home drive
Open Photoshop > File > Open, or open the photo by Right Clicking on the image file in your home drive > select Open With > Adobe Photoshop Elements
Choose Save As from the file menu. Give it a different name and save in your home drive.
Use filters to digitally transform the art
Insert both the original file as well as the filtered file into your Keynote presentation by going to Insert > Choose and then navigating to your files
List all filters used in your Keynote

Assignment 4

Recreate Famous Artwork

Using the paint and drawing tools in Photoshop, recreate a famous work of art.
Open Photoshop > File > Open, or open the photo by Right Clicking on the image file in your home drive > select Open With > Adobe Photoshop Elements
Select File > New > Blank File

Select an appropriate Width and Height

make sure that the Resolution is set to 72 Pixels
set the Background Contents to Transparent

Select Window > Layers
In Layers, select More > New Layer each time that you add something to your artwork
Select File > Save As > from the Format pull down menu choose Compuserve GIF > then click Save.
Insert both the original file as well as the recreated file into your Keynote presentation by going to Insert > Choose and then navigating to your files
